We might be tempted to think that we missed the chance to finish well. The reality is that it does not matter the way we were. What matters is the way we are. No amount of solid family ties, as important as they are in this life, will fit us for heaven. The tie that binds us to the kingdom can only be found in Christ. We can be thankful for the memories that keep us young, but when those memories begin to fade, what we really need is the deep assurance that we are His.
